Tannin & Cotton Natural Dye Workshop

  • 19 Blinco Street Fremantle, WA, 6160 Australia (map)

Wrap yourself in warmth and creativity this winter. Step into the inviting atmosphere of the Fremantle Fibonacci Centre, where steaming tannin-rich dye pots and a soul-warming drink by Hinata Cafe await.

In this intimate, hands-on workshop, you’ll receive a beautifully crafted hand-spun, hand-woven cotton scarf from The Anjelms Project and an expert guidance in mordanting and natural dyeing with Annette Wiguna. Choose from three rich earthy dye extracts: myrobalan, cutch, and pomegranate.

While your scarf simmers the pot, local spinner and cotton grower Jean Anning will share the journey of cotton, from seed to thread.  We will finish by exploring optional colour modifiers to deepen or warm the shade of your scarf.

This workshop is perfect for beginners and anyone drawn to the alluring beauty of plant-based colour.
