Take your botanical/eco print skills to the next level in this one day session. Ideal for those with previous printing experience, I will show you one of my favourite mordant recipe and process, dye infusion, printing with dye blankets, and more tips. We will be printing on luxurious silk satin scarves and some fabric swatches. This workshop will be held in Parkwood.
If you have never done any printing on textiles before, I highly recommend completing the Intro to Natural Dyeing and Printing workshop first. As this workshop is designed for those with prior experience, we will not be going over the basics (eg. type of fibres and scouring process).
The skills you will gain from this workshop are:
Make your own alum acetate mordant (cold mordant process) for cellulose and protein + post mordant 'dunging' process
Add coloured background with dye blankets
Explore creative uses of dye extracts including dye infusion
Create dynamic prints by playing with different types of leaves (tannin, colour, acid base)
Achieve clean and clear prints with proper barriers and bundling method

A notebook
